Historical fiction at its best: science, nature and fantasy

Children become immersed in the wonder of the Galapagos Islands through the pages of this wonderful and exciting book; it’s a thrilling combination of nature, science and fantasy. Its historical setting allows children to experience the traditions and customs of 1835, as well as learning about the life of cabin boy, Covington, as he embarks on the journey of a lifetime on board Charles Darwin’s Beagle. Magic, engineering, friendship and adventure

Magic, engineering, friendship and adventure, create an exciting mix in this thought-provoking tale. With a female protagonist at the heart of this STEM focused story, it is a wonderful addition to any middle-grade bookshelf. Morgana lives outside of the technology-reliant city in the woods with the rest of the magical community.
